Faces of Hope Banquet

The Faces of Hope Banquet is the Elegua Chapter’s annual event that raises awareness about HIV/AIDS while also celebrating the leaders of DePauw University. Through the use of workshops, performers, and guest speakers, the Elegua Chapters hosts a fun and educational evening for all of the DePauw community.

Our guests enjoy an elegant evening of dinner and drinks hosted at the Grand Ballroom of the Inn at DePauw. Performers have included Exalt Gospel Choir, guest poets, professional dance routines, and many more. Presenters have included Brother John Yates, Program Director of the Live Safe Campaign of Lambda Sigma Upsilon. The evening concludes with the presentation of the Faces of Hope Award, which goes to the individual or organization that has tirelessly worked towards improving the DePauw and Greencastle community.

In all three years, the Faces of Hope Banquet proved to be very successful. A sold out event, the Elegua Chapter was able to raise over $2,000 dollars and engage 150+ people about our philanthropy. Proceeds from the banquet are donated to the Damien Center, a non-profit HIV/AIDS resource center based in Indianapolis, which serves the state of Indiana. We were also happy to award the Compton Center for Peace and Justice with the first Faces of Hope Award for their dedication to serving the students of DePauw thought their activism
